Extra info – FS700 and BMPCC used EF glass by using a metabones speedbooster which required some slight changes of exposure.
Dynamic Range – C100 wins by a bit. The BMPCC just barely slides by the FS700 and the T3i lost by a landslide. For your own thoughts check the first clip and the 300% of the tree.
Compression – The BMPCC has the best compression and can be moved around more in post. The c100 came in second. And last was a tie with the T3i and FS700. For your own opinions check out the 300% of the Wall Test with unsharp mask applied.
Detail– This one is kind of hard to tell. Several of the shots of the Medium Closeup look out of focus. The T3i appears way too over sharpened despite being in Cinestyle. The C100 seems to get great detail and sharpness throughout the tests. The FS700 seems to be fairly sharp although it seems alittle like in camera sharpness. I’m really split on the BMPCC. I’ve done tests where it’s worlds sharper than the T3i but in these tests it often appears to come out on the bottom…
After reviewing the footage I have found my answer. In the MCU, the hat reveals some things. First it reveals that the FS700 is out of Focus. But it also reveals that the T3i is lacking in detail while the C100 and BMPCC look great.
The Bmpcc seemed a little noisy even in good lighting. The C100 seemed to have the least noise. The T3i was too compressed to have visible noise.
So Basically shoot on anything but a T3i. If you can’t?It looks pretty good when you compare prices.
