Online I stubbled across someone who noted that Hitfilm's express product was free for the next week or so (thanks Ryan Connelly). This was great. They were already on my radar of software I wanted to try after their kickstarter for a Mac version, however had never gotten around to trying it. Download it @ https://hitfilm.com/express/free Quick Overview/Review So far I must admit that it can do somethings very nicely. One thing is that it's so easy to track a single point then connect the track to something like a lens flare base or some text for text that moves with a pan. Overall it does a couple things very well like muzzle flashes thanks to them being in 3D and single point tracks, so it's a nice tool to have for quick shots like so. It also doubles as a video editor, even though I didn't mess with it much. It probably wouldn't be too bad for a beginner. I was also surprised by how easy it was to use. Many VFX software programs are complicated like Blender 3D, Maya, and After Effects but those programs also are slightly more powerful, which is not to say that Hitfilm can't hold its own. It's a great piece of software for anyone on a budget. It's defiantly worth the download in the next week or so. Don't miss this opportunity for some great free stuff.
