1. Get sample of work similar to that of which you want to do Try to get samples of work that are of what you want to do. For example if you want to be a wedding videographer, you need footage of wedding videography. That means even working for free in that industry, second shooting, or assisting (PAing) 2. Be specific Because people want to see specific work, they want to be able to envision what their video is going to look like. So for example, some people do rap music videos really well. And they've made a name for themselves in that industry. They can command higher rates because they are an expert in that industry. If they were to, say, shoot a wedding video, they would only be able to charge what everyone else is able to charge. 3. Advertise You need to get your work in front of prospective clients. If you're a wedding videographer, that's sites like The Knot and WeddingWire. If your a Corporate Videographer, it might mean using linkedin ads. Advertising might seem like something that you can't afford but once you begin to advertise and market your business, you begin to see that it's something that you can't afford to skimp on! 4. Never stop learning! Whether it's new techniques for making videos or new business practices and industries to get into, never stop learning your craft!
