With the Blackmagic Ursa Mini 4k reviews coming back poorly, it's not quite that clear. However, to note many other Blackmagic Cameras had poor ratings when they first came out.
What about the Sony line. The FS7? Well it's nearly twice as much as the Ursa Mini but many of the reviewers seem to back it. The unfortunate thing is that you almost need a Speedbooster to use it due to the shortage of E lenses. Even if there are E-mount lenses, they often have an odd focus and zoom ramp. AJA Cion's camera seemed nice but it's claimed 12 stops of Dynamic Range seem to end up closer to 8. For the price, that kind of makes it a deal breaker when combined with the PL mount. The PL mounts not necessarily a bad thing but PL glass starts at $3k for a prime. Of course there is third party lens mounts for it. But they cost around $600 a piece. That brings the overall price for the AJA to $6.6K. The Canon line? Well there's the XC10 with a fixed lens and the C100 MkII which only shoots 1080p. Another Line to Consider is the Kinifinity Line. The KineMax 6k and KineMini 4k both seem like good cameras but I have very little experience with the company. So I guess the truth is there is no best camera. Just a load of options. The best piece of advice is that a more expensive camera will likely be better. Case in point, Blackmagic. Hey film friends, here's an awesome resource! Since the popularity of my Motion Graphics Tutorial, I have heard a couple of people mention that they wanted further explanation on how I did the effect. So here's the video. Giving your audience what they ask for not only creates a interaction with your fans but also increases interaction with your videos. Bellow is the original video if your interested or haven't seen it. |
